Nightmare [on Elm's St] in Mrs. P's Kitchen

I had THE WORSE baking day E.V.E.R!!! You see the above cupcakes? yeah...let me tell you the story from the beginning...

I decided to bake since I couldn't think of anything else to make for lil P's class. Lil P said he wanted to help, "great!", we did some math problems while trying to figure out how many times I have to fill up the 1/4 cup for 1 1/4 cup of oil and he helped pour them into the batter. After he helped me mix I told him to go take a shower so I can finish it up. I mix it some more and noticed something was quite odd. I looked at the box again and found that I had mistaken the 1 1/4 cup of water as OIL. CRAP. I had to toss out the whole batter. I decided not to stop there and told myself that I'll just do another batch. BAD IDEA. I put in the right meaurements this time but instead of mixing with my hands (since it's already getting late), I took out my beater in hopes to speed up the process...to find it didn't work. Neither of the TWO I had worked. argh, back to mixing by hand. The first dozen of cupcakes came out not the way I like it but would still work, and went on working on the 2nd dozen. In the middle of baking, I took them out to check on it. Apparently I didn't quite make the pan flat on top of the stove and it FELL! Batter all over the floor and the pan hit my elbow and burnt my skin. Argh! I managed to calm down, wipe those batter and continued on. I had about 15 cupcakes in the end, not enough for lil P's class but thought I could bring them to work. I frosted them and put eyes on them, closed it up in a cupcake container and called it a night. What a crazy night!

Next morning I woke up and was packing things for lil P's halloween parade when I passed by my cupcake container. THE ANTS HAVE GOT TO THE CUPCAKES! You have got to be kidding me! They were....ALL OVER, I was pissed. PISSED. I opened them, picked one up, and BOOM they all just come out of it, every. single. cupcake. Out of rage, I dumped them all in the trash. It had turned my worse baking night last night, to a really bad morning.

I had warned lil P about my mood. He could tell...I couldn't stop saying "argh!!!" But I managed to get him to school, dressed him and try and enjoy the rest of the day...despite the burning sensation on my elbow. Still...owie. =(

Lil P wants to be King Peter of Narnia, and I joined him as the Queen of Narnia aka the White Witch.

Lil P had a great time! His Costume was very difficult to do though. I had to use spray painted kitchen liner as "chainmail" and use foil and the like for his armor. For my costume, I used yarn as the lion's mane. I really try to make them just like the characters. I even added a hood for lil P, can you see it on his back below?

By the way, I added a picture for the potato salad post. We had a halloween party today.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

  2. @Angeleyes: I am glad I'm not in the baking business. I was just upset that I wasted my whole night and got nothing out of it. Thanks about the costumes, I am glad halloween is over! We've got too much candy!!!
