Cake Pops

I saw this Cake Pop thing from KidsDreamWork and LittleMissMomma. It sure looks easy enough and finally thought I should give this a try! Lil P's class had a class party on the last day of school before winter break and they asked the parents to bring a dessert so they could share it after their school lunches. So...I volunteered and made Cake Pops.

Alot of people had no idea what these are, basically they are round shaped cake in placed of the hard candy on a lollipop stick.

You can look at the recipes in both of their blogs, both are very detailed. Lil P wanted to help so I had him crumble and mix the chocolate cake with chocolate frosting after I baked and cooled it. Of course I made him wear gloves because it's way too messy! Instead of eye balling the balls, I used a mini cookie scoop to scoop from the batter to place on Lil P's hand for him to shape into balls. I guess we must have put too much frosting because those little balls are WAY TOO SWEET, for me anyway. Lil P seems to enjoy them.

After Lil P went to bed, I went on with the melting the white chocolate, dipped the lollipop sticks in and push them into each ball, popped them into the freezer for a few minutes, then went on with the white chocolate coating. That was the HARDEST PART! I dunno how they make theirs so easy.

Needless to say, I made just enough for his class because I was getting frustrated dipping them and some of them were breaking apart. I still had alot of leftover balls, so I did something else with them instead.

Mini Christmas tree and snow flakes cake balls. These are much more enjoyable to make! For the snow flakes, I placed some melted white chocolate in a ziplog bag and snipped a corner to act as my pipe, then I draw them on a wax paper and wait until it's set before removing it from the wax paper and place on top of the frosting. =)
Thanks KidsDreamWork and LittleMissMomma for the step by step instructions!
